Promoting relaxation on the London Underground.
Promoting relaxation on the London Underground.
Commuters in London spend about 11.5 days on the tube each year. Most people live far away from the city centre so must travel long distances for long periods of time. Taking the underground on a daily basis exposes them to dangers such as loud noises, overcrowding and pollution. This can negatively impact their well-being and lead to higher stress levels. The aim of this project is to create a device which allows the user to relax during their commute. The hand held meditation device can be massaged on different areas of the body, such as the legs or back, releasing low frequency sound waves and vibrations. The device can be synched to an app which offers relaxing music and guided mediation sessions. The concept was developed in multiple co-designing sessions with a user. All the feedback gathered helped improve the initial design. The shape, size, material and location of the control buttons was altered to make the holding experience as natural, easy and comfortable as possible.
